Biography

Suiço, born as Jean Luc Rosat, played for Brazil in volleyball at the 1976 and 1980 Olympic Games. He also helped Brazil win a silver medal at the 1975 Pan American Games. Although he started playing club volleyball with AABB (Associação Atlética Banco do Brazil), most of his career was spent with Botafogo.

Suiço was close friends with his 1980 teammate, Bernardinho, who later coached Brazil to six consecutive Olympic medals from 1996-2016, and was the godfather of Bernardinho’s son. Suiço died from a series of complications after developing COVID-19.
