Biography

Paula Weishoff competed with the US team at the 1982, 1992, and 1996 Olympics, winning a silver medal in 1992 and a bronze in 1996. Weishoff played one season at Southern Cal, making All-American and leading them to the NCAA title in 1980. She then played with the US national team from 1981-86 and returned in 1991, after playing professionally in Japan, Brazil and Italy for several years. Weishoff won gold medals at the NORCECA Championships in 1981 and 1983, returning in 1991 to win silver. She competed at the 1982 World Championships, winning bronze, and the 1986 Worlds. Her other international medals include a 1983 Pan American Games silver, a 1986 Goodwill Games bronze, a 1993 FIVB Super Four bronze, and a 1995 World Grand Prix gold medal.

Weishoff became a college coach, first as an assistant at Southern Cal (1997-2004), and then as head coach at Concordia University and then head coach at UC Irvine, beginning in 2009. She returned to Southern Cal in the late 1990s to earn her bachelor’s degree. Weishoff was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1998 and the USC Hall of Fame in 2005.
