Biography

Dave Ashleigh competed in water polo for UCLA from 1963-66, and at the club level competed for Phillips 66 Water Polo Club, and Inland NuPike. He was on four AAU champion teams, outdoors in 1963-64 and 1968, and indoors in 1964, earning All-American honors from 1963-68, and was AAU Player of the Year in 1965. While at UCLA he helped the team win NCAA Championships and Pac 8 Conference Championships in 1965 and 1966, and he was an NCAA water polo All-American in 1963 and 1965. Ashleigh also swam for the Bruins and made All-American both in the 200 breaststroke and the 400 individual medley. Ashleigh captained the US team at the 1967 Pan American Games, winning a gold medal. He later coached swimming and water polo at Modesto College from 1970-92, winning 11 conference championships in water polo.
