Biography

Jan Blažek was a center (5) who played for Czechoslovakia at the 1972 München Olympics. Most of his career was spent with Slavia VŠ Praha, helping them win six national club titles and the 1969 European Cup Winners’ Cup. Nearing the end of his 15-year career, he spent time with Red Star of Pardubice and Baník Ostrava. In 10 seasons on the national team, Blažek also helped Czechoslovakia win a bronze medal at the 1969 European Championships. He later had a small part in the Oscar-winning film “Amadeus”.
