While at Indiana University, Quinn Buckner had a difficult decision to make. He was a college star on both the football and basketball teams, and if he had wanted to, could probably have played defensive back in the NFL. Instead he elected to play pro basketball, first with the Milwaukee Bucks and of late with the Boston Celtics. A 6-3 (1.90) guard, Buckner is known primarily as a defensive specialist and has four times been made a member of the NBA All-Defensive Team. Buckner was a member of both an NCAA and an Olympic champion in 1976 – one of the few players to pull off this double. With the Celtics he became one of the rare basketball U.S. Olympians to claim championships in the NCAA, the Olympics, and the NBA.
