Biography

Abbas Zandai wrestled freestyle for Iran at the 1948, 1952, and 1956 Olympics. He started competitive wrestling at age 14 with the Babr Tiger Club in Tehran. He joined the Iranian national team when he was 17 and won the Pahlevan of Iran title the next year. Zandi was World Champion in 1954 and won gold at the 1958 Asian Games.
