Biography

Jenny Byrne was an Australian tennis player who played professionally from 1987 to 1997. Byrne achieved a career-best doubles ranking of 27 in the world in October 1988, and a singles ranking of 45 in the world in May 1989.

As a singles player Byrne reached the third round of all four Grand Slams, apart from Wimbledon. She faired better as a doubles player, reaching the semi-finals of the French Open in 1987, and the quarter-finals of Wimbledon and the US Open. In the mixed doubles Byrne and Mark Kratzmann reached the final of Wimbledon in 1989.

Byrne competed in the women’s singles tournament at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. She lost to Raffaella Reggi-Concato in the first round.
