Biography

Žarko Knežević played basketball for Yugoslavia at the 1972 München Olympics. A center, he played 224 first-league games, mostly with OKK Beograd (1968-77, 1979-80, 1982-83), although he also spent time with BBV Hagen (1977-78), Fenerbahçe (1978-79), and Budućnost (1980-81). Knežević played for the national team from 1970-74, earning over 150 international caps.

Knežević helped Yugoslavia to five consecutive wins at the Balkan Games, a gold at the Mediterranean Games, gold at the 1973 European Championships, and silver medals at the 1974 World Championships and 1971 Europeans.
