Biography

Freddie Williams was born in South Africa but fled the country because of its apartheid policy and settled in Canada. He eventually represented Canada at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and finished sixth for them at the 1993 World Championships in the 800 metres. Williams attended Abilene Christian University and while there won four NCAA D-2 titles, and then won the 1986 NCAA D-1 800 title, and the 1986 D-1 title indoors in the 1,000 metres. Williams also finished fifth in the 800 at the 1994 World Indoor Championships.

Personal Bests: 400 – 46.98 (1991); 800 – 1:45.13 (1993).
