Biography
Ralph Starr represented Cambridge against Oxford four times (1923-26), winning the mile in 1925 and again in 1926 when he also won the Southern mile and was fourth at the AAAs. At the Olympics, Starr was eliminated in the heats of the 5K in 1924 and reached the semi-finals of the 800 in 1928, when his best performance was his victory in the Kinnaird mile in 4:19.6, the fastest time by a British miler that year. He followed this by winning the mile at the Southern Championships (4:21.2) and, after his early season form, his seventh place at the AAA Championships was a disappointment.
