Biography

Sprinter Karin Janke was eliminated in the second round of the 200 at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. She also participated at the 1991 and 1995 World Championships, the 1994 World Cup (runner-up with the 4x400 relay), the 1990 and 1994 European Championships (bronze with the 4x400 relay), the European Cups in 1989, 1993 (bronze with the 4x400 relay) and 1995 (silver with the 4x400 relay), and the 1993 European Indoors. Domestically Janke won several West German titles, including the 1990 and 1991 400, and in 1990 in the 4x100 relay. She married hurdler Stefan Mattern.

Personal Best: 200 – 23.11 (1984).
