Biography

Sprinter Christiane Krause was a member of the world record relay team that won the Olympic 4x100 relay title in 1972. She also ran the 200, but was eliminated in the semifinals. In 1974 Krause finished seventh in the 200 at the Europeans, but won a gold medal with the relay at that year’s European Indoors. She never won a West German title, but was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf in 1972 for her Olympic honors. Krause became a Board Member of the German Olympic Society and supported the unsuccessful bid of her hometown of Hamburg for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Personal Bests: 100 – 11.45 (1972); 200 – 23.17 (1972).
