Biography

At the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, javelin thrower Marlies Müller came in sixth. She participated in eight international matches and was West German Champion in 1950, 1951 and 1953, runner-up in 1949, and third in 1952. She was later married to non-Olympian high jumper Bernd Naumann, although they divorced. Her brother Hermann-Josef “Olli” Müller was a former sprinter, long jumper and pole vaulter. He was shot down in 1944 as a fighter pilot in Bretagne, France, and was killed in action.
