Biography
High jumper Marlene Schmitz-Portz came in ninth at the 1960 Roma Olympics. She participated in 14 international matches and was West German Champion in 1959-60 and 1963-65, also winning indoors in 1960. She was married to non-Olympian sprinter Otto Schmitz. Schmitz-Portz worked as a saleswoman in a shop for sporting goods.
Personal Best: HJ – 1.70 (1964).
