Biography

The West German soccer team at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics was part of the mixed German team that was defeated 2-1 by the Soviet Union in the first round and immediately eliminated. Left-half Max Schwall was a substitute and did not play. Domestically he played for FV Daxlanden (1942-57) and Karlsruher SC (1957-63). He returned to Daxlanden in 1963 and coached the team until 1969. During his professional career he was also the administration manager of the structural engineering department and was later employed by the municipality of Karlsruhe. In his later years he played tennis.
