Biography

Although long jumper Erich Köchermann had a sponsor, his participation in 1932 was initially rejected by the Deutsche Olympia Ausschuss (at that time the German Olympic Committee). In 1928, he finished fifth in the long jump, but was injured on his first attempt at Los Angeles in 1932 and placed 11th. Köchermann was a four-time German Champion (1928-30, 1932) and competed in eight international matches. He was also a very good gymnast, once winning the North German title in the individual all-around. Professionally, he was an overseas merchant, eventually running a big Hamburg foreign trade company.

Personal Best: LJ – 7.64 (1928).
