Fredy Müller, an 800 metre runner, ran his personal best unofficially at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics in the semifinals but was nevertheless eliminated. The time was taken by his coach Josef Waitzer, and thus could not be listed officially. At the University World Games he won two medals, a silver in 1928 and a gold in 1939. In 1929 and 1930 he won the German Championship, and in 1925 also won a 3x1,000 relay title. After World War II he served in the Berlin Athletics Association, as vice-president in 1948 and as president from 1949 until his death in 1959. Müller was awarded the Golden Needle by the German Athletics Association. By profession he was a sports teacher.
