Biography

Manfred Poerschke, a 400 runner, came in fourth with the mixed German 4x400 relay at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. He had his greatest moment winning the silver medal at the 1958 European Championships with the relay together with Carl Kaufmann, Karl-Friedrich Haas and Jo Kaiser. Domestically Poerschke won four outdoor and three indoor West German relay titles. The educated teacher later became director of studies of a professional school in Dortmund.

Personal Best: 400 – 47.0 (1957).
