Biography

Gyula Strausz was an extraordinarily versatile athlete for OTE, BEAC and later of BBTE. His strengths were high jump, long jump, shot put, and discus. In the latter discipline, he twice broke the national record. During his university years, he also competed in rowing. Strausz competed in long jump and discus at the 1900 Paris Olympics at BEAC’s expense but he attended the 1906 Athina Olympics on his own dime. In 1906, he competed in discus, discus Greek style, and javelin, but did not reach any finals. Strausz graduated from law school, and after his sports career, he worked for the International Committee of the Hungarian Athletics Association.
