Biography

Camillo Zemi was an Italian discus and hammer thrower of the 1920s. He took part in two Olympic Games, 1924 and 1928, but without obtaining significant results. He earned 10 international caps from 1924-31.

Domestically, his sporting battles were notably with Albino Pighi in the discus and with the 10-year-older Armando Poggioli in the hammer. Despite this, Zemi managed to win two national titles in the discus (1927, 1929) and hammer (1924-25).

Zemi was the Italian record holder in the discus, although for just over three months, with 44.25 on 29 June 1927 in Milano, and twice in the hammer, the first in July 1923 with 40.74 and then in September 1925 with 46.515.

Personal Bests: DT – 44.25 (1927); HT – 46.25 (1929).
