Biography

Gunnar Fredriksen was a Norwegian all-round track and field athlete who represented Torshaug IF in Oslo. In 1927 Fredriksen won his first medals at the national championships with silver in both the 110 metres hurdles and the decathlon. The following year he repeated his success in the latter, earning himself a place on the Olympic team for the 1928 Amsterdam Games. At the Olympics, however, he withdrew from the decathlon after five events, and was scheduled to compete in the triple jump but did not start. Despite his poor performance at the Games he went on to win more than a dozen medals at the national championships, including gold in the decathlon in 1932 and 1933.

Personal Bests: TJ – 14.43 (1928); Dec – 6146 (1933).
