Biography

Maren Seidler is one of the great American female shot putters ever. She competed for the US at three Olympic Games, and also made the 1980 team, winning the US Olympic Trials all four times. She was on the Pan American team in 1967, 1975, and 1979, winning a silver medal in the shot in 1979 after finishing fourth in 1967 and fifth in 1975. Seidler also competed at the World Cup in 1977 and 1979, and the Universiade in 1973. She attended Tufts University and Cal State Hayward, winning the AIAW title in 1971-72, and won 17 US Championships in the shot put, 11 outdoors and six indoors. Seidler also competed for the San Jose Stars. She later became a real estate agent in and around Tucson, Arizona.
