Biography

Dick Cochran, a student at the University of Missouri, first became a force on the national scene in 1959 when he won the NCAA discus, finished second in the Pan American Games, and placed third in the AAU. In 1960 he again won the NCAA, and after finishing third at the Final Trials, he took third place at the Olympics as the U.S. made a clean sweep of the discus medals.
