Biography

Jun Gao was a table tennis player who appeared at four Olympic Games – 1992 for China, and then 2000, 2004, and 2008 for the United States. She won a silver medal in doubles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics alongside Chen Zihe. At the World Championships she won seven medals and two golds medals from 1989-93, all while competing for China. After changing citizenship to the USA, she won six gold medals at the Pan American Games from 1999-2007.

Jun won nine USA singles titles, 11 doubles titles, and eight mixed doubles titles, playing with several partners. After her competitive career ended she became a table tennis coach, opening California Table Tennis Club in Rosemead, California. Jun was inducted into the USA Table Tennis Hall of Fame in 2009.
