Biography

Earl Fuller was gaining attention as a track star in his native San Francisco by the age of 18, having been a successful high school athlete. Nonetheless, it came somewhat as a surprise when he finished second several years later in the 1928 AAU 800, which doubled as the Olympic Trials and thus placed him on the Olympic Team. Fuller made the 1928 Olympic final, finishing seventh. He competed for the Olympic Club of San Francisco, in addition to being a member of their rugby union squad, and was considered a contender for the 1932 Los Angeles Games. He was, however, ultimately unable to make the team. In August 1956 he was hospitalized with a gastrointestinal hemorrhage and, despite appeals for blood donations to aid in his transfusions, he died in October of that year at the age of 52.

Personal Best: 800 – 1:51.9e (1928).
