Biography

Edward Knourek won the AAU pole vault in 1917 and 1921-22, tying for first in 1922. He finished third at the 1920 AAU Meet, which doubled as the Olympic Trials, and qualified him for the Olympic Team. A Chicago native, Knourek founded the American Machinery Exchange in 1920, a company that manufactured and sold woodworking machinery.
