Biography

Béla Dánér was an athlete at BEAC. He competed both in gymnastics and athletics. His personal best record in the high jump was 170 cm. He went to high school in Brassó and then earned a law degree in Budapest. After his graduation in 1907 he competed for BBTE. He competed in three disciplines of gymnastics in the 1906 Summer Olympic Games and achieved a 6th place in team all-around. He wrote articles in different newspapers during his sports career and was active in politics as well. During World War I, he served 44 months as a gunner. Due to to his braveness, he received several awards. After the war, he became a politician, a Member of Parliament, and a journalist. Because of his extreme right orientation, an unsuccessful assassination was planned against him in 1925. He died in a car accident in 1930.
