Biography

Cross country skier Barbara Barthel helped the West German 3x5 km relay at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Games to seventh place. In the individual 5 km event, she finished 29th, and over 10 km, she did not finish. One year earlier, she won her only West German national title over 5 km. Barthel participated in two World Championships, 1961 and 1968. She later owned a printing company in her hometown Wunsiedel.
