Biography

Fredi Bieler had a short career in ice hockey at the highest Swiss level, playing for Zürcher SC from 1947-51, and helping them win the Swiss Championship in 1949, although he started out with EHC St. Moritz before World War II. In addition to his Olympic appearance in 1948, he won two bronze medals at the World Championships in 1950 and 1951. Bieler had 53 caps for Switzerland from 1939-51, playing right wing. He won three medals at the European Championships, gold in 1950, silver in 1951, and bronze in 1949.
