Biography

With a career that spanned more than twenty years Steinar Bjølbakk became one of the best ice hockey players in Norway. Bjølbakk made his début with Vålerengens in 1963, playing in 16 seasons with the side, making more than 320 appearances, and scoring 252 goals. From 1965 to 1970 he won six consecutive national league titles with the club, also winning a seventh title in 1973. In 1970 he was awarded with the Gullpucken for being the best Norwegian ice hockey player, before winning it again in 1972 to become the first person to win the award twice.

Bjølbakk first represented the Norwegian national ice hockey team in 1963, making more than 60 appearances for the side in his career. He competed at the Olympics in 1968 in Grenoble and 1972 in Sapporo, where Norway finished eleventh and eighth, respectively.
