Biography

Alpine skier Albert Burger burst into the scene in the mid-1970s as a giant slalom specialist. He earned his first World Cup points in 1975. The next year, he finished 10th at the Innsbruck Winter Games, and was also placed 15th in the slalom event. He also won his only West German national title in 1976.

At the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, Burger finished 20th in the giant slalom, and was disqualified on the second run of the slalom. In 1978 and 1982 he participated in the World Championships with little success. Burger retired after the 1981/82 season, and then became a coach with the German Skiing Federation.
