Biography

Giulio Capitanio was the top Italian cross-country skier in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He won a 1979 World Cup race at Zakopane. At the overall World Cup he was 35th in 1982 and 36th a year later. Domestically he won eight individual titles: 30 km in 1978; 50 km in 1976, 1978, 1980, and 1983; the 15 km in 1976 and 1979-80; and was on winning relay teams in 1973, 1975, 1977-78, and 1985.
