Biography

Manfred Deckert is the brother of Alf-Gerd Deckert and makes his living as a sports teacher and mayor of the town Auerbach. He is also president of his club, VSC Klingenthal. As a ski jumper Deckert won the 1982 Four Hills Tournament and a silver medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics on the normal hill. He also took part in the World Championships in 1982 and 1985, winning a team bronze in 1985. Deckert was East German Champion on the normal hill in 1979, 1983, 1984 and 1987.
