Biography

West German Gerhard Gehring participated as a biathlete at the 1968 Grenoble Olympics. He finished 32nd in the individual 20 km event and ninth with the team. Four years later at Sapporo he appeared as a cross-country skier and had a best result of 10th place in the 30 km event. In 1970 Gehring earned the West German national title in the 30 km, and six years later captured one in the 50 km event. He also claimed two relay titles in 1972 and 1975. By profession he trained as a butcher, but later became a farmer.
