Biography

Geoffrey Hall-Say came from a wealthy background - His father Sir Richard Hall-Say built Oakley Court, a mansion now familiar as the setting for the film musical “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”.

At 44 years of age he was much the oldest skater of the three participants in the special figures competition in 1908. Contemporary press reports note that he was outclassed by his younger rivals in an event in which movements where to be executed on one foot only but he was awarded the bronze medal and, as of 2013, remains the oldest Olympic winter medalist in an individual event. He was also an accomplished yachtsman.
