Biography

Hubert Hammerschmidt was an Austrian Nordic skier who participated in the 1948 St. Moritz Winter Olympics. He came 68th in the 18 km cross-country, 23rd in the Nordic combined, and 19th in the large hill ski jumping event.

In his youth, Hammerschmidt started as an alpine skier and won the 1937 Hahnenkamm downhill race at Kitzbühel. At Austrian nationals he won the 1948 relay title, having finished second the previous year.
