Biography

Peter Jonas was an Austrian singles figure skater who participated in the 1960 Squaw Valley and the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics, finishing 13th and seventh respectively. He also participated in the 1958, 1960, 1962-65 World Championships with a sixth place in 1963 as his best results.

At European Championships, Jonas won his only international medal, a bronze in 1965 in his last appearance, going back to 1957. Jonas won the Austrian national title in the four consecutive years 1961-64. After his active career he successfully turned to coaching in Germany and Austria, and was briefly the Austrian national coach.
