In the late 1890s and early 1900s René Georgi competed with his brother Carl in tennis tournaments in the north-west of France. At the 1900 Paris Olympics the Georgi brothers competed in two non-medal handicap events. René reached the semi-finals of the singles where he lost to the British player Moreau. In the doubles the brothers were eliminated in the first round. Away from tennis René worked as a company director.
