Biography

East German Nordic combined Herbert Leonhardt from Klingenthal finished 28th in the 1956 Olympics at Cortina d’Ampezzo. In 1949 he won all four Nordic disciplines at the Winter Championships in the Soviet Occupied Zone. The events were 16 km cross country, 4x8 km cross country relay, Nordic combined and ski jumping. The next year he added a bronze in the Nordic combined and won East German national titles in 1949, 1943-54. He also won the 15 km cross country title in 1949 and 1953, and the ski jumping title in 1949.
