Biography

James Jardine played in the basketball tournament that was held during the 1904 St. Louis Olympics. He represented the Chicago Central YMCA that finished second in the tournament. The team played two games, defeating the Xavier Athletic Club, but losing to the Buffalo German team that won the event, and won three games by default. Jardine is known to have played in both games, scoring 24 points against Xavier, the most points scored in any game in 1904 by a player not on the Buffalo Germans. Jardine was a Canadian native who was still a Canadian citizen in 1904 and only became a US citizen in 1920.
