Biography

Nadine Capellmann was a German dressage rider who won the team gold medal at the 2000 Sydney and 2008 Beijing Olympics on her horses Farbenfroh and Elvis VA. Individually, she finished an unfortunate fourth in 2000, and 16th in 2008. Capellmann’s greatest year came in 2002, when she won the World Championships both individually, and with the German team. She added two more team gold medals in 1998 and 2006. At the Europeans, she won three team golds in 1997, 1999, and 2001, and a silver in 2007. Individually, she won the bronze medal in 2001.

In 1999 and 2001-02, Capellmann won the national title. She was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. By profession, she became a graduated business manager. Her sister Grit also was a dressage rider, and her father Kurt was the long-time president of Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein, organising the annual CHIO tournament at Aachen.
