West German figure skater Holger Maletz partnered Brigitte Groh and won the pairs national title in 1988. This was the qualification for the 1988 Calgary Games where they finished 11th. The pair also finished seventh at the Europeans that same year. Maletz earlier skated with non-Olympia Marianne Ocvirek (German Championship runner-up, and seventh at the 1986 World Championships) and later with non-Olympian Tatiana Demovic, but with limited success.
