Biography

Ryuji Fujita from the Yamaguchi prefecture was a student of Takashima Hokkai and Kyūho Noda. He was accepted to present his works at various exhibitions including the Bunten. Together with others he founded the New Japanese Painting Group (Shin Nihonga Kenkyūkai). 1936 he won the bronze medal with his work Ice Hockey in art competition of the Berlin Olympics. The whereabouts of his work are not clear after being purchased by the Nazis. His well-known student Ryū Seihō attempted to restore the work.
