Biography

Juan Moreno competed at the 2000 Olympics in taekwondo for the USA. He had also competed at the Olympics in 1988 and 1992 when taekwondo was a demonstration sport, placing second in finweight both times. Moreno won a gold medal in finweight at the 1991 Pan American Games, and won gold and silver at the 1988 and 1990 Pan American Taekwondo Championships, respectively. He also won gold at the 2000 World Cup, and two silvers in the 1989 and 1990 World Cup, and was a bronze medalist at the 1989 World Championships.

After leaving the mat, Moreno became a coach, serving as US team coach for the 2002 World Cup, the 2002 World Junior Championships, and the 2005 World Taekwondo Championships. He is the founder and director of Peak Performance USA, a taekwondo training center in Rhode Island.
