Biography

Hans Metzler was a member of the four-man bob West Germany II at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics and finished 14th. He also finished eighth with Anton Fischer in the two-man event in 1984. Fischer and Metzler also won the 1983 West German two-man bob nationals. Like many other bobsleigh athletes, Metzler started his career as a sprinter and hurdler and had a personal best of 10.8 over 100 m, 21.8 over 200 m, 52.2 over 400 m, 14.24 over 110 hurdles, and 55.5 over 400 hurdles. By profession, Metzler was a wine grower with his own vineyard Gut Hildegardishof at Bermersheim.
