Biography

Pete Patterson skied on the World Cup circuit in 1975-76 and then in 1978-81. His best meet was the 1978 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where he placed third in combined and eighth in giant slalom, but his 1980 Olympic downhill fifth place was another top finish.

After his ski career ended, Patterson returned to his native Ketchum and Sun Valley, Idaho. He began a career as a mountain guide with Sawtooth Mountain Guides and has worked for Sun Valley Heli-Ski. He and his wife, Kim Jacobs, started Mountain Spirits, and adventure travel company that specializes in heli-skiing and treks in Nepal.
