Biography

Flatwater canoeist Detlef Bothe partnered Hans-Jürgen Tode at the 1976 Montréal Summer Games. Both participated in the East German C-2 over 500 and 1,000 metres. Their fifth place finish in the longer of the two distances was their best result. From 1977-79, and in 1981, Bothe won the East German national titles in C-2 1,000, and between 1977-79, the C2-500 title.
