Biography

Competing on the World Cup circuit between 1979 and 1992, Miran Tepeš never managed a win, finishing second on six occasions. Consistent results in the 1987 season earned him a fourth place in the overall World Cup standings. His best World Championship result also came that season, taking 12th place in the normal hill competition; at the World Ski Flying Championships he managed a sixth place in 1985. The Olympic silver medal that he won at the 1988 Olympics stands as the best result of his career. After completing his geography study, Tepeš returned to the ski jumping scene as assistant race director for the International Skiing Federation (FIS). His son Jurij and daughter Anja have followed in their father’s footsteps, competing primarily in the Continental Cup.
