Biography

Vladimir Vikulov began his ice hockey career with CSKA Moskva and played there until 1979, when he played one season with SKA Leningrad before finishing his playing career. With CSKA Moskva Vikulov won 12 Soviet titles (1964-66, 1968, 1970-73, 1975, 1977-79) and nine European Champions Cup titles (1969-74, 1976, 1978-79). In 1972 Vikulov was the best goal scorer of the Soviet Championships with 34 goals and in the same year he was selected, with Valery Kharlamov and Anatoly Firsov, as the best line at the Soviet Championships.

Internationally Vikulov played 195 games with the Soviet national team and scored 109 goals. He was Olympic Champion in 1968 and 1972, was a World Champion seven times (1966-71, 1975), and won six European Championships (1966-70, 1975). He also won silver at the 1972 World Championships, silvers at the 1971 and 1972 European Championships and a bronze at the 1976 Canada Cup. In 1972 Vikulov also took part in the legendary Summit Series between Canada and Soviet Union, playing in six games and scoring two goals.
