Biography

Jürgen Gerlach was a West German whitewater canoeist, who finished 26th in the K-1 at the 1972 München Olympics. The canoe slalom events were held for the first time at the Olympics on the Augsburg course (and for the last time until 1992). He won two bronze medals in the K-1 team event at the World Championships in 1969 and 1971. Gerlach later wrote several textbooks about whitewater canoeing and canoe wandering tours. He also became a sports administrator in the German Canoe Association.
